Behold, it is Written

IMGBut he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
Matthew 4:4 (KJV)

Some Christians have been getting sucked into occult practices and don't even realize it. A spirit of delusion is even now coming upon those whose lamps are lacking oil. They are attempting to battle Satan through "astral warfare" which contradicts how Christ taught us to fight.

Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.
Matthew 4:7 (KJV)

Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.
Matthew 4:10 (KJV)

Our Lord Jesus Christ gave us the example of how to directly battle Satan and his forces when He was tempted in the desert. He used scripture against him. Over and over He told Satan "It is written" showing us the power of God's Word at work. This is why Christ told us we would do even greater things in His name. That exact same power is available to us when we quote scripture.

And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:
Ephesians 6:17 (KJV)

In Ephesians 6 we are given a list of various types of armor but only one offensive weapon, the Word of God. When we use the Word of God against His enemies we are using the power of Jesus Christ because He is the Word made flesh (John 1:14 KJV).

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

Recently I have had several people who profess to be Christians mock me for relying solely on the word of God. "You rely on scripture, I will rely on astral warfare" I was told by one. Another said "You rely on 'your book' (The bible), I will rely on my revelations". When someone calls the Word of God 'your book' they have exposed themselves. Somewhere along the way they have been deceived by Satan into believing the lie that personal revelations somehow outweigh the Word of God.They get absolutely furious when you correct them using scripture, this will show you the true spirit that guides them.

Folks, this is the spirit we are fighting today. I pray for these people because I am still not sure if they are witches or simply deceived Christians. The delusion is so strong that it even shook my faith at times, and I thank God I was able to withstand. It is only because I stood on the Word of God, all glory to Him.
Satan will try to get us to exchange the truth of scripture for a lie. Whenever we are told anything by another professing Christian we must be as the Bereans and check it against scripture, no matter how good and appealing it is to our flesh. Another area where I was tempted was "The Danger of Imprecatory Praying".

Brothers and sisters, there is indeed an astral plane where spiritual warfare goes on. Angels and demons do battle out there continually. But our warfare is not conducted from the astral plane, but this material world.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
Hebrews 4:12 (KJV)

Let me clarify further how all the above scriptures fit together to give us one picture. Although our bodies exist on this temporal plane our fight is on the spiritual plane. The sword of the Spirit operates exclusively in the spirit world. When we speak the Word of God or invoke Christ's name with our physical mouths it literally pierces the veil between these two worlds.

And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:17 (KJV)

This is why the name of Jesus Christ is crucial. He is not called Yahshua, Yeshua, or by any other demon god's name. His Name is Jesus. Matthew 1:21 (KJV) tells us that His name means salvation which in Hebrew is most likely the word Yesha. An excellent study of the meaning of these names can be found here. In any case Jesus' possible Hebrew name is of absolutely no concern to us because the simple truth is that if He wanted us to call Him by that name it would've been recorded in scripture. All we know for sure is that His name means salvation, not 'Yahweh is salvation' but he, Jesus, is salvation. Scripture tells us no one goes to the Father but through the Son, therefore 'Yahweh is salvation' is a lie!

At the fall the connection between our soul and spirit was severed. There is no need for us to operate on that plane, however Satan has taught his followers how to reconnect themselves to the spirit world. If there is something going on in the spirit world that we need to be aware of it is the Holy Spirit that will enlighten us as to what we need to pray and/or rebuke out loud.

After this I looked, and, behold, a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice which I heard was as it were of a trumpet talking with me; which said, Come up hither, and I will shew thee things which must be hereafter. And immediately I was in the spirit: and, behold, a throne was set in heaven, and one sat on the throne.
Revelation 4:1-2 (KJV)

As we can see there may be occasions where the Christian is "in the spirit' but it is extraordinary and only at God's commandment and control. If God wants to tell us something He will do so through His Spirit in us, and if He wants to show us something except on the rare occasion it will be through dreams and visions. God has holy angels who are equipped exclusively to fight battles in the spirit world.
