Can Christians Be Cursed?
His body shall not remain all night upon the
tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged
is accursed of God;) that thy land be not defiled, which the LORD thy God
giveth thee for an inheritance.
God is having me do a deep study of curse theology and exactly what affects us and what doesn't as Christians. The first item I want to bring to your attention is the fact that whoever hangs from a tree is accursed (Galatians 3:13 KJV). See the implication here? Jesus hung from a tree therefore He was cursed by the Father. He literally took every curse ever spoken by man or devil against another person upon Himself so that we could be free from them. That freedom from curses was purchased on the cross for us, paid in full. All sin is a type of curse and we are all sinners. But just like sins curses aren't broken automatically, they must first be repented of.
For the wages of sin is
death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
When allowed to remain unconfessed sins are eventually fatal. We carry them around like a heavy burden. They grow like a cancer in our lives, becoming bigger and heavier until we eventually crumble under the weight of them like the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back.
he took up his parable, and said, Balak the king of Moab hath brought me
from Aram, out of the mountains of the east, saying, Come, curse me Jacob,
and come, defy Israel. How shall I curse, whom God hath not cursed? or how
shall I defy, whom the LORD hath not defied?
In the story of Balaam and Balak (Balac) we see that curses cannot be placed upon God's people without cause. Satanists can sit all day babbling curses against God's people but they will harm nary a hair upon our heads. However we can be afflicted by these curses if we give Satan legal right to afflict us by sinning. We know the story of Balaam and Balak applies to us today because it is mentioned several times in the new testament, most importantly by Christ Himself to this end times church.
But I have a few things
against thee, because thou hast there them that hold the doctrine of Balaam,
who taught Balac to cast a stumbling block before the children of Israel, to
eat things sacrificed unto idols, and to commit fornication.
If a curse is to come upon us it is because we have stumbled over that stumbling block and sinned. As serious as this is we can break these curses that have come upon us through our own sins by confession and repentance. This is why so many of the wolves are teaching a repentance free gospel, because as long as these sins go unconfessed any curses we have brought upon ourselves through them remain in effect! Satan does not want Christians set free from the curses his agents have placed upon us.
she named the child Ichabod, saying, The glory is departed from Israel:
because the ark of God was taken, and because of her father in law and her
Friends, we must wrap our heads around the fact that most of these smiling preachers are actively seeking to destroy us. Our knee jerk reaction is to believe they are just confused or mistaken in their doctrines, I was one that believed this. The simple fact is that we shall know them by their fruits. A genuine follower of Christ will heed the Word of God when it is shown to them, a wolf will come against you personally for opposing them.
They will kick us out of their denominations and houses of worship and speak all manner of evil against us. But the glory of God has departed from their houses, a curse from Him is upon them. This is why God tells us to 'come out of her' (Revelation 18:4 KJV). To be ejected from these houses of desolation and suffer shame for His Name's sake is an unspeakable honor (Acts 5:41 KJV).
As the bird by
wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
So yes, scripture is clear. Christians may be cursed, but not without cause. We must ask God to show us where we have allowed sin to gain a foothold in our lives and repent of them immediately. If we have a problem area in our lives where victory over besetting sin is proving difficult we must seek God's face on the matter. This is the key to freedom, because we may have active curses operating in our lives and be blinded to them by witchcraft.
