I've been monitoring this whole 'Charlie Charlie' craze, but it seems to me that if you call yourself a Christian and cannot figure out that summoning up demons is bad then there is little hope for you. What may be helpful information for some however is understanding exactly how demons gain entry into our lives.
When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he
walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. Then he saith, I
will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he
findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goeth he, and taketh with
himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and
dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so
shall it be also unto this wicked generation.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man
hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with
him, and he with me.
Now it may help to demystify the whole demon thing to see them as inter-dimensional spirit beings. They seek to gain entrance into this dimension through people, but we must open up these portals for them. How do we do this? Through sin. In the above passage think of the demon as a fish out of water when he goes out of a man. They never leave willingly, but must be forced out. After they are forced out of a person they are driven to once again inhabit a body.
But we humans are self contained; souls wrapped in our very own bodies. Notice the juxtaposition between the two passages of scripture. Demons try to enter our hearts using brute force, yet Christ stands and patiently knocks. Similarly demons will not leave our bodies unless forced out, yet the Holy Spirit will become grieved by any unrepentant sinful behavior and will leave on His own. I am just stunned that some Christians will actually hold up Ephesians 4:30 (KJV) as if it were a promise instead of a clear warning.
Open Doorway: Sex
Now it's time for a story. Back in the 90s a 'friend' of mine was trying to set me up with this girl. She was attractive, but the Holy Spirit was nagging me to stay as far away from her as possible because she had serious 'spiritual problems'. We were sharing a glass of wine at a bar being a little flirty. Not too long before I had rededicated my life to Christ which I can tell you from what subsequently transpired had caused much hullabaloo in the spirit world. There was a concerted effort to neutralize me.
Suddenly, I decided to just stop being double minded and lay it all on the line. “You know I like you and everything, but I just don't feel we should be together”. “Why?” She asked curiously. I decided to be honest. “Because although this may sound a little strange, God told me that you have spiritual problems”. “Oh, that's because I'm an open doorway” she told me, flat out.
No man can enter into a strong man's house, and spoil
his goods, except he will first bind the strong man; and then he will spoil
When our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit He is the 'strong man' of our house. Now nobody can bind that strong man, but we ourselves (Ephesians 4:30 KJV). I was a closed doorway, this girl was an open doorway. What happens when those two have sexual relations? That closed spiritual door is breached and the Holy Spirit bound. By confessing to me that she was an open doorway God opened up my understanding of this. She was sent by Satan to demonize me through sex. Men, this happens to us all the time. Women? Yes, to you too!
Know ye not that your bodies are the members of
Christ? shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members
of an harlot? God forbid. What? know ye not that he which is joined to an
harlot is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh. But he that is
joined unto the Lord is one spirit. Flee fornication. Every sin that a man
doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth
against his own body. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the
Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?
For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in
your spirit, which are God's.
If Satan has determined that your weak spot is sex he will send plenty of opportunities your way, you can be sure of that. Some may not know that they are being used, while others like this girl knew exactly what was going on. She later told me that her father was a powerful warlock back in England and would 'interject' into her body at will from his nursing home bed. An interject is when a person astral projects into the body of another person. It is a pretty rare occurrence in the occult world because the demons required to do this are very powerful. This power is something not available to dabblers in the occult.
What I have found looking back is that there seems to always be a ‘tell’, some clue that you are dealing with someone who isn’t what they seem to be. Sometimes it is the Holy Spirit, while other clues you pick up on by experience. I met someone who seemed to be a nice Christian girl until I met her parents and it was casually mentioned that they still had the placenta from her birth. This is something done in the occult to exert authority over a person spiritually. I don’t pretend to understand all of it, but I was shown enough of a warning sign to clear out of that situation.
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth
what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
I cannot stress enough how it is the Holy Spirit that reveals these things. If we are conformed to the world or preoccupied with worldly things we will miss the whisper of His still, small voice in our hearts. Another example I can give you ocurred on Facebook not long ago. A woman wanted to ‘friend me’ on there and she seemed to be a Christian seeking platonic friendship so I obliged. Not too much later I got a distinct impression in my spirit that I was to unfriend and block this person. I didn’t know why, but I obeyed. This raised the eyebrows of more than one mutual friend, but I stayed strong. A few months later I found out that this woman was sending nude pictures of herself to Christian men on Facebook trying to seduce them.
In a similar incident a man befriended me and we had some interesting conversations on Facebook. He presented himself as a Christian that needed some counseling and I tried my best to help him. Once again the Spirit alerts me, “Block this guy, he’s not what he seems to be”. I actually sent him a message to let him know he hadn’t done anything wrong and not to get offended, but that God had spoken to me and I must obey. A year later I felt the urging to go take a look at his profile. I was shocked to find that he had changed his name from Scott G******” to “Rising Phoenix” and his page was now littered with occult exhortations. I promptly reblocked him.
Open Doorway: Drugs
Whilst fornication is perhaps one of Satan's most powerful tools of entrance into men another doorway is drugs. Contrary to methods where demons try to gain entry it seems that certain drugs lure us to come out of our houses (bodies) and enter the spiritual realm. This is called astral projection in the occult, or out of body experiences (OOBEs). Many religions have it, Hinduism, Yoga all the eastern religions. I am of the belief that the forbidden fruit of the garden that Adam and Eve ate was a psychedelic. Scripture tells us that their eyes were opened.
Or ever the silver cord be loosed, or the golden bowl
be broken, or the pitcher be broken at the fountain, or the wheel broken at
Many songs were written about OOBEs, two of which immediately come to mind are “Flying” by the Beatles and “Spirits Having Flown” by the Bee Gees. The Doors named themselves after Aldous Huxley's book “The Doors of Perception” which is all about his experiences using mescaline to achieve OOBEs. Back in the 80s Shirley MacLaine produced a made for TV movie of her book “Out on a Limb” which has a scene that illustrates her experience with astral projection. MacLaine makes reference to the 'silver cord' that connects the body to the spirit which is alluded to by none other than King Solomon in scripture. Remember that's what this site is all about, viewing the world through the lens of scripture.
As part of research that I did for a movie script back in the 90s I delved into the psychadelic ‘60s and Timothy Leary. You can find interviews on YouTube of him praising Aleister Crowley, so it doesn’t take much of a leap to see the true source of the sex, drug and rock and roll revolutions. Something interesting he wrote was that in spending time with the gurus of eastern religions he had discovered that they achieved the same experiences he did, but without the use of drugs. Folks, these voyages into the spirit world are very dangerous.
