The Deep and Secret Things
With this article I want to share some of my experiences and what God has shown me. I understand that not many Christians will be able to relate to these things, but I feel it is necessary to talk about them and let the chips fall where they may.
I have a deep desire to please God in every area of my life. Why? Simply because I am greedy and want everything He has to offer me. I have always had a great deal of faith. When I read the bible I don't look at men like Daniel or Paul as if they were on a pedestal and neither should you. They are merely examples of what a man of God can become and surely even surpass. But I also understand that the kind of walk these men had with God comes at a price.
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will
come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.
I'm afraid that most will write off the way I live as legalism or trying to earn my salvation and in so doing miss a lot of what God has waiting for them. The simple truth of the above verse is that carrying our cross is a full time job. So in order to carry it properly we must first put down the things of this world we are holding on to. Make sense? As such when God points out something in our lives that isn't pleasing to Him we cannot take anything off the table if we have truly surrendered our lives completely to Him.
Love not the world, neither the things that are in
the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
Laying down the things of this world is not as difficult as it seems, but what you get in return is so worth the price. Now I don't judge anyone who is not where I am, but I will not agree that these things are okay for us either, because they really aren't and I would be doing God a disservice by lying to make you feel better. I want to give you a few examples from my life of areas where I needed to lay things down, not to lift myself up, but just to encourage you that it is possible to do.
I have talked before about television, this is something even the world recognizes is not good for us. I could tell you of how it is used for mind control and many other things. But the truth is most of you already know in your hearts it is not pleasing to God. Giving up TV was perhaps the most important thing I did, because it got my mind sharp, focused and able to hear the Holy Spirit much clearer. It is like a fog lifted.
Music for me was a lifelong passion, I dedicated my life to songwriting and teaching myself to play several instruments. I was a professional recording engineer for a time and worked with some household names. But as I grew as a Christian something didn't feel quite right about it, even supposed “Christian music”. I had to seek the Lord for a long time before I got the answer to my question “Why does music make me feel this way?” The answer came when I was ready to accept it. Music is a language that is used to stir up the flesh. When we study scripture we see that Satan was created with the ability to make melody and rhythm with his flesh (Ezekiel 28:13 KJV).
Christmas pagan? How is that possible? I am just as dismayed as anyone over that, but the facts speak for themselves. I think the most frightening thing is to look back at all the church celebrations of this holiday. Was I wrong all those years I celebrated Christmas? Yes. And if I was wrong we all were. It makes me very sad to the depths of my soul. That is not to say we will be judged for it. Nothing committed out of ignorance will be judged. But I have a responsibility before God to warn others when I see they have fallen into the same ditch I did.
The heart is deceitful above all things, and
desperately wicked: who can know it?
Yes, most of us recognize the deceitfulness of our own hearts, but there is also a very important question posed. “Who can know our deceitful hearts”?
He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth
what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him.
The answer of course is the Holy Spirit who reveals these most deep and secret things to those who search for them. I gave up TV, music and going to the movies because they were some of the stumbling blocks in my life, what are yours? You'll have to ask the Holy Spirit to reveal that to you in His time. But I can tell you from experience you will hear the Holy Spirit more often and more clearly once you lay these things of the world at the foot of the cross.
For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be
This is the heart of the matter right here. There is only one kind of Christian who makes it to Heaven, and that is the one who judges themselves constantly. How can I say that with such certainty? Because if we were ever to be judged we would all be found guilty, every last one of us! Let me show you some more scripture:
For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are
not under the law, but under grace. What then? shall we sin, because we are
not under the law, but under grace? God forbid.
The only people judged under the law are the unsaved (Romans 3:19 KJV) and not one of them will escape God's wrath. To enter Heaven we must count ourselves amongst those under grace. This is the stumbling block of the Hebrew Roots movement. They have been deceived into moving themselves out from under that grace that Jesus Christ purchased for all mankind on the cross, and back under the dead law (Romans 7 KJV), even to the point of trading His precious name for that of a demon named Yeshua.
We all have a difficult time admitting when we're wrong. Yet admitting our faults is the very cornerstone of our salvation. Indeed, it is the ministry of the Holy Spirit to reveal the wickedness of our hearts to us. The flesh yearns for things that our spirit knows are not good for us, and the Holy Spirit within us bears witness. We are in constant struggle with our flesh. Our job is to heed His Spirit within us and repent.
And these are they which are sown among thorns; such
as hear the word, And the cares of this world, and the deceitfulness of
riches, and the lusts of other things entering in, choke the word, and it
Yes, the cares of this world will drown out our hearing His still, small voice if we allow them to, but the truth is that many do so intentionally. So what happens when we no longer have ears to hear and eyes that see? Well God in His grace will send people to warn us, oracles in the body of Christ. An oracle is just a messenger of God, a brother or sister in Christ. Above all God just wants us to repent, He doesn't want to send anyone to Hell.
Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his
righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him,
he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his
sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but
his blood will I require at thine hand.
There are plenty of self righteous people out there condemning others, however in these last days the person appointed by God to warn others against sin is quite rare, because their lives have to be in order before they can warn others. Notice the above verse is very specific to mention those who have turned away from living righteously, not those who stumble on occasion as we all do. You see, these people who have turned from righteousness have a stumbling block before them. They can no longer hear the still, small voice of the Holy Spirit.
If they are hearing anything it is the Jezebel spirit, the counterfeit spirit that guides the Laodicean church. And they will never realize it is a false Holy Spirit they are hearing, because their foolish hearts have become darkened (Romans 1:21 KJV).
So what separates those who have turned from righteousness from the rest of us? They do not judge themselves and repent when they transgress. If we ignore the Holy Spirit enough we will stop hearing from Him, and this is the most dangerous position for someone who calls themselves a Christian to be in. Why? Because contrary to what most of the Laodicean Jezebel infiltrated churches are teaching, we can indeed lose our salvation. How? Through neglect and by intentionally turning our hearts away from God. The doctrine of "Once Saved, Always Saved" is a lie from the pit of Hell.
