The Flesh is Never Satisfied
The New York Daily News Denis Hamill recently wrote an editorial titled "Food for thought" exonerating the so called 'cannibal cop' because he never actually acted on his bizarre fantasies. While I agree that this man should not be prosecuted for what amounts to thought crimes, I vehemently disagree with the idea that fantasy is harmless. The younger people out there may not be aware of Ted Bundy, a serial killer who was executed over 25 years ago for the brutal murders of some 30 victims. In a startling interview with Dr. James Dobson just before his execution Bundy explained how his thirst for blood first started with exposure to pornography at a young age. Soon fantasy was not enough to satisfy his progressively sadistic and violent cravings. Like an addiction the demons that had entered him demanded to be satisfied and he soon became their slave. But I keep under my body, and bring it into
subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself
should be a castaway. There is a school of thought out there that pornography actually prevents crimes like rape by satisfying the flesh. But the fact of the matter is whether we are talking about food, sex or roasting your neighbor on the barbecue for the Fourth of July the lusts of our flesh are never satisfied. It is a bottomless pit of craving and desire. The idea that the lusts of the flesh can be sated by giving in to them is a lie straight from Hell. The flesh is constantly vying for our attention and control. It is never satisfied. What's more our minds will actually conspire with our flesh to give it what it craves! Once I finally got this through my thick skull my whole perspective of life as a Christian changed. “I am the Snake that giveth Knowledge & Delight and
bright glory, and stir the hearts of men with drunkenness. To worship me
take wine and strange drugs whereof I will tell my prophet, & be drunk
thereof! They shall not harm ye at all. It is a lie, this folly against
self. The exposure of innocence is a lie. Be strong, o man! lust, enjoy all
things of sense and rapture: fear not that any God shall deny thee for
this.” But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father
seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must
worship him in spirit and in truth. I juxtapose these two quotes to make a point; after all is said and done the fact of the matter is that when we serve our flesh the Serpent (Satan) is worshiped. But our God is worshiped in spirit and in truth. As such we can see that there is no physical act of worship acceptable to God whether it be Yoga, dance or any other form. Speaking of snakes have you ever wondered why they respond to the music of their charmer? If you ever have some time to waste go do a YouTube search of babies dancing. It is plain to see that our bodies physically respond to music through our emotions. This is something that has puzzled me for a long time, how music effects us. Suffice to say music was part of Satan's ministry in Heaven until he fell. There is some peculiar connection to the flesh that I hope God will explain to me one day. We must be highly suspect of every emotion we experience because they are all contaminated by our flesh. Emotions are part of the flesh? Yes, they are. Think about it. Our blood pressure rises when we get angry. We blush when we're embarrassed and cry when we're sad. By far the easiest way to control others is through their emotions. Emotions lie and are often irrational. Any mother can attest that babies although unable to speak easily communicate to us through their emotions. But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto
you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the
Father, he shall testify of me: What does it mean to worship the Father in spirit and in truth? Simply that we must live our lives focused not on serving our flesh, but pursuing truth. We become as bloodhounds searching out truth wherever we may find it. I am constantly amazed at how much truth I can find in unexpected places, and how many lies I can find being preached from pulpits. Pilate saith unto him, What is truth? And when he had
said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and saith unto them, I find in
him no fault at all. What did Pilate mean when he asked Christ "What is truth"? The answer is yet another example of God's simple, yet profound ways. We cannot just worship Him just in Spirit, or truth, it must be both. Many in the world have spent their lives searching for truth and have a good handle on it but never seem to find their way to the cross. On the other hand is the 'burning building' Christian who although you warn them night and day to change their path they're on refuse to change. You tell them the truth, they nod their heads in seeming agreement yet stay in the burning building. Why? I hate, I despise your feast days, and I will not
smell in your solemn assemblies. Though ye offer me burnt offerings and your
meat offerings, I will not accept them: neither will I regard the peace
offerings of your fat beasts. Take thou away from me the noise of thy songs;
for I will not hear the melody of thy viols. He answered and said unto them, Well hath Esaias
prophesied of you hypocrites, as it is written, This people honoureth me
with their lips, but their heart is far from me. I remember early on I felt God tell me that my ministry was going to be warning His people who have strayed. I thought that I was given an easy assignment. No! These are the most hard hearted, pious individuals I have ever dealt with! There is no brokenness over their inherent sin nature like Christ showed us in the parable of the Pharisee and Publican (Luke 18:9-14 KJV). They think they have the goods! We can raise our hands, praise God and give Him lip service 24/7 but if in our hearts we do not worship Him in Spirit and truth it is all wasted breath. Again, When a righteous man doth turn from his
righteousness, and commit iniquity, and I lay a stumblingblock before him,
he shall die: because thou hast not given him warning, he shall die in his
sin, and his righteousness which he hath done shall not be remembered; but
his blood will I require at thine hand. Nevertheless if thou warn the
righteous man, that the righteous sin not, and he doth not sin, he shall
surely live, because he is warned; also thou hast delivered thy soul. How do you respond to truth? I remember one of the early signs I saw that Carter Conlon of Times Square Church was preaching a gospel of leaven is how he derailed "angry watchmen who quote scripture at you". That's me and Ezekiel I guess, and I apologize for nothing. I will do everything in my power and use every word in my vocabulary to both persuade and convince you to turn from sin. That is my ministry and anyone who doesn't couldn't care less for your eternal soul! It is not enough to know the truth we must be doers of it. ![]() Blog comments powered by Disqus |
