How We Must Fight

IMGOur Fight is Not in the Physical Realm

And, behold, one of them which were with Jesus stretched out his hand, and drew his sword, and struck a servant of the high priest's, and smote off his ear. Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword. Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?
Matthew 26:51-53 (KJV)

Dear brothers and sisters, I know that some of us are wisely preparing for the suffering that is coming, both physically and spiritually. Some of you may be preparing for the eventuality of violence by purchasing weapons to defend yourselves, or even hold some thoughts of 'taking back our country' in the event of civil war. I cannot find in my New Testament one single example of an apostle of Christ who took up a weapon for our cause, either offensively or defensively.

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)
2 Corinthians 10:3-4 (KJV)

As Christians our battles are fought in the spirit, not the physical. We must look to the word in all matters as our guide in how to conduct every part of our lives. The example of the saints is clear; we are not to physically defend ourselves but to submit to the authorities. That is not to say we should obey laws that contradict God's law. We must continue to pray in school, witness to the unbeliever and everything else God requires of His people. As Christ told us we should render unto Caesar (government) what is his and render to God what is God's (Luke 20:25 KJV). The government of Christ's time was corrupt, every government since has been, and every one that may come until Christ's return will be corrupt. We cannot fight in the flesh and expect God to bless our efforts.

For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.
Ephesians 6:12 (KJV)

God may allow our bodies to spend time in prison as the apostles did, but when we allow God to take us to a higher place in the Spirit it really doesn't matter where our bodies are. And if He is willing, is He not able to loose those bonds and take us anywhere? Nobody can separate us from Christ, except ourselves (Romans 8:35-39 KJV).

I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Psalms 37:25 (KJV)

God is able to take care of your family, whether your need be food, shelter or supernatural protection. Do not let a spirit of fear overtake you. When we walk with Christ in obedience we can claim every single promise for ourselves and our children. Nothing will happen to you unless Christ allows it; will you trust in Him or your sword?

Our Fight is in the Spiritual Realm

Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath:
Ephesians 4:26 (KJV)

Our true power as Christians lies in the spiritual realm, yet most of us lack courage and tenacity in our battle with Satan. Some of us even compromise and try to form some type of truce with him. Christians by and large are playing defense against Satan’s attacks and barely holding on. It is not the time to retreat and assume defensive positions but to make war with Satan’s kingdom! There is a righteous anger and God’s people need to get angry and start bringing the fight to Satan.

I remember many years ago God gave me a vision. I saw a Christian on the ground desperately covering his head and body while the Enemy stood over him pummeling him relentlessly. God told me this Christian was waiting for the Enemy to give up and walk away.

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1 Peter 5:8 (KJV)

Dear friends, Satan will not stop pummeling you unless you stand up and fight! He will not stop until you are completely destroyed! There is no mercy in him, he is hatred personified. Christians so easily forget they have powerful weapons like the sword of the Spirit which is the word of God (Ephesians 6:17 KJV).

How should one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, except their Rock had sold them, and the LORD had shut them up?
Deuteronomy 32:30 (KJV)

Go On the Offensive!

We also have prayer and fasting at our disposal, but we need to put down our toys and start using them. We need to turn off the radio in our cars while we drive to work and pray. We need to turn off the portable music devices while we are on the subway and pray for our city, for every person riding that train with us. We need to turn off the televisions and the constant stream of filth we allow to enter our homes and spend our free time with the Lord.

Is there a gay pride parade or similar event in your town? Go to it! Not to hold up signs or berate anyone, but to bind every demonic spirit in that area. Ask the Lord to send His angels to convict every single person there. That is how we operate in the Spirit. We need to start thinking like this, like generals in an army striving to annihilate their enemy.

Any battle we fight as Christians will only be won if we fight it on our knees. If you are trusting in Smith and Wesson instead of Christ you make take a few with you, but as Christ said those who live by the sword will surely perish by it.
