The Jezebel Spirit (Part II)

IMGWhat Exactly is the Jezebel Spirit?

And it came to pass, as if it had been a light thing for him to walk in the sins of Jeroboam the son of Nebat, that he took to wife Jezebel the daughter of Ethbaal king of the Zidonians, and went and served Baal, and worshipped him.
1 Kings 16:31 (KJV)

In the book of 1 Kings we are first introduced to King Ahab and his wife Jezebel. While Ahab served the masculine god Baal Jezebel served the feminine entity then known by the name Asherah which is translated as 'groves' in the KJV (1 Kings 18:19 KJV) after the groves that were built to worship her. Have you heard of the 'Bohemian grove'? They worship Baal and his consort Asherah.

Asherah was the queen consort of Baal. Both Ahab and Jezebel so closely identified themselves with their pagan gods that their names forever became synonymous with them. So when we say someone has a Jezebel or Ahab spirit we are simply pointing out that they allow themselves to be ruled by Baal or Asherah just as they did.

Queen of Heaven

How much she hath glorified herself, and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: for she saith in her heart, I sit a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
Revelation 18:7 (KJV)

Throughout scripture we are told of the exploits of a certain woman figure. The title she has taken for herself is 'queen of Heaven'. Jeremiah called her by this name (Jeremiah 44 KJV). In Judges 3:7 she is the goddess Asherah, consort of Baal. The Ephesians called her Diana (Acts 19:35 KJV), the Egyptians “Isis, queen of Heaven” and to this day the Catholic Church calls Mary by this title.

We can see that she is an archetypal character that has been woven throughout scripture in both Old and New Testaments. She has been known by many other names; Semiramis (Queen of Babylon), Inanna, Astarte, Ishtar. To this list I would add Columbia (Goddess of America) and Libertas (The Statue of Liberty).

Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.
Matthew 7:20 (KJV)

Don't be dismayed by her many names because as it turns out they are really of no great importance. It causes many confusion because this spirit has taken so many of them throughout history that it is next to impossible to keep track.  But forget her name, the way we identify her is by her fruits. Although the historical Jezebel wife of king Ahab was long dead Christ used her as an archetype in his letter to the church of Thyatira (Revelation 2:20 KJV). I choose to use this name because that is what Christ called her servants, but make no mistake, they are all guided by the same spirit.

I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me:
Isaiah 45:45

For thou hast trusted in thy wickedness: thou hast said, None seeth me. Thy wisdom and thy knowledge, it hath perverted thee; and thou hast said in thine heart, I am, and none else beside me.
Isaiah 47:10

In the first verse God is speaking of Himself, in the second Jezebel speaks of herself. Notice the similarity? In Revelation 2:20 (KJV) we learn that she calls herself a prophetess. In Revelation 18:7 (KJV) she calls herself a queen. Jezebel is delusional; she usurps the role of God Himself! She is full of self righteous indignation and woe to any man that would dare to contradict her.

Ruling spirit of the World Church

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Revelation 3:20 (KJV)

The fact that Christ tells the Laodicean church He stands at the door betrays the fact that He is not inside of it. Further proof is the fact that in verse 17 we are told she is naked which spiritually speaking means she is not clothed with the garments of salvation (Matthew 22:11-14 KJV). In Revelation 3:18 (KJV) she was warned by Christ to buy gold and to cover her nakedness but she did not heed Him. So who this woman running the Laodicean church? It is Jezebel!

Behold, I will cast her into a bed, and them that commit adultery with her into great tribulation, except they repent of their deeds.
Revelation 2:22 (KJV)

In Christ's letter to the church of Thyatira He plainly warns them that those who commit spiritual adultery with Jezebel will end up following her into the great tribulation. Do we have evidence of Jezebel operating during the Great Tribulation? Yes we do, but under yet a different title.

Revelation 17:3 (KJV)

As I mentioned previously another title Jezebel holds is the “Mother of Harlots” which was given to her by Christ Himself. She has always been identified by the true prophets of the living God as a harlot (2 Kings 9:22 KJV).

The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, [saying], Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
Psalms 2:2-3 (KJV)

She is what we would call today a girl gone wild. She will not be restrained. The Statue of Liberty (Libertas, a Roman Goddess and Jezebel archetype) has broken chains at her feet. Why? Because she has cast her bands asunder, refusing to accept any moral restraint. Why does a statue of the Mother of Harlots stand in New York harbor representing America? Because as I wrote a while back in “America Will Burn” it is America, not Rome that is modern day “Mystery, Babylon the Great”.

And I heard another voice from heaven, saying, Come out of her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues.
Revelation 18:4 (KJV)

Jezebel is the ruling spirit of the world church which is even now emerging from the Roman Catholic Church and her daughters the denominations of modern Christianity. Does this mean that everyone who goes to church is unsaved? Of course not; however I must warn you that by continuing to participate in her organized church system we have come under the influence of her doctrines of devils and become accomplices, partakers in her plagues. This is why we are warned plainly in the above verse to come out of her.

Drunk with the Blood of the Saints

Jezebel is a slayer of the true prophets of God (1 Kings 18:13 KJV) Why? Because they expose her witchcraft and whoredoms. In her mind she sits as a queen and will see no sorrow but the prophets burst that bubble by exposing her for what she is; blind, wretched and naked (Revelation 3:17 KJV).

And when the daughter of the said Herodias came in, and danced, and pleased Herod and them that sat with him, the king said unto the damsel, Ask of me whatsoever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. And he sware unto her, Whatsoever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, unto the half of my kingdom. And she went forth, and said unto her mother, What shall I ask? And she said, The head of John the Baptist.
Mark 6:22-24 (KJV)

We see an excellent example of her blood lust in the above passage. John the Baptist had dared to publicly declare that king Herod had sinned by marrying his brother's wife Herodias. From that point on she wanted him dead but Herod was afraid of him. But when her daughter came to her she saw her opportunity to retaliate. Being true to the Jezebel spirit guiding her Herodias told her daughter to demand the head of John the Baptist.

Fight or Flight?

Many well intentioned people will ask if the churches have been taken over by this spirit why can't we just stay in them and change them from within? This would be an excellent idea if it weren't for the fact that Jezebel is running the show. I know story after story of people who have challenged their pastors on the false doctrines they teach and paid the price. They have been rebuked, ridiculed and falsely accused simply for pointing out biblical truth.

That is not to say we shouldn't take a bold stand against her, however we must understand that she will not be loosed from the organized church. It has always been her destiny to take over the end times church which is why Christ warns us to 'come out of her' in the first place.
